There is a choice of three auxiliary, however we have to choose two of these to complete. The first out of these two options I opted for was the promotional poster for my film. After completing a teaser poster with satisfactory results this seemed a safe option. In this poster I wish to outline a slight idea of the narrative however not to much too give away the plot. In this image I want several inter textual references that I have used in my production.
Seen as my film is a spoof of sorts, but has a more serious notes towards it I have an idea to play upon the early Scary Movie images. Organising the entire cast in costume into, either a living room or a cinema with posters and action figures in the background. Perhaps ganging up on Spiderman to anchor he is he central protagonist and reveal some of the narrative. This is more likely to be done in a living room than the cinema setting due to convenience and restraints.
Another feasible idea would be to have the central protagonist in costume undergoing mundane tasks. Such as pushing a trolley in the supermarket, but he is surrounded by a crowd of people staring at him, so that he stands out.
Both ideas will need be developed to see if they are achievable, and whether or not they look presentable or not. And audience feedback can be given to see which of these two is preferable.
However in terms of text included on the poster the writing will have a bold red font with a white outline, mimicking the Scary Movie titles. However to have some originality the writing will have cobwebs inside it so signify the reference to Spiderman. Also to refer further to the narrative have one of the letters preferably the 'O', shaped as an un-tuned television. This idea can be tweaked at a later date.
To make sure my concept fits the codes and conventions of cinema promotional posters there various feature I will need to include.
- Cast names
- Release date
- Billing block containing the details of everyone involved in the production of the film
- Tagline
All of these incorporated into my idea should produce a highly effective poster, that will help publicise my production.
As well as all of this the image used tends to be and independent one, so not just a still taken from the movie, which is what I will attempt to achieve.
