To create a final product that looks professional and acceptable to reach the higher marks. I will study existing material in this specific field, using magazines such as Film and Empire, observing their layout and style in both the article and layout to create a piece of text that appeals to a vast audience.
This is most likely top be produced using Apples Pages program, as it offers a much wider catalouge of effects and styles than say Microsoft Word. It also has rough templates so projects can be easilt set up
To get a mixed review so that it doesn't appear bias, I will use audience feedback from the audience that will have seen my short film. Most probably being the media students or others evolved and any parents that attends a screening.
In terms of the content included I will give my own personal opinion and ask others about what they liked what, what they didn't and if they see any areas that could be improved or added to in the near future. Perhaps compiling a score sheet to give the film a start rating that could be included on my my poster, proving as real audience feedback.
In terms of the articles layout I will set my self a four column target as it will provide a symmetrical aesthetic to the article. With eight to ten words per line, providing a comfortable width. The same font will be used throughout, in a continuous size. Par any headings which will be enlarged slightly and in bold to emphasize them as headings. Opting for a son serif font, as in my opinion it creates a more professional aesthetic.
An overall title will be needed for the magazine and a suitable heading for the article, however this can be decide as the task is undergone.
To break up large chunks I will incorporate visual media from my production.
Including....
- Stills from the film
- Posters, whether these be teasers or promotional
- Drop quotes
- Maybe stills of the cast or generally a behind the scenes photo shoot, giving an insight to the production process.
From looking into the Total Film magazine I've learnt a few common trends that they tend to include. And some features that I may incorporate in my article.
- On the pictures included, small captions are used. Which explain the situation.
- Overall there is a maximum of three columns per page. One smaller articles this is reduced to two.
- Small screen shots are given borders to give them an outline, and make them stand out from the page.
- There is a reoccurring colour pallet through out the magazine. This being red, blue and yellow.
- Adverts are including, which advertise other forms of interactive media such as video games and mobile phones.
- A key is provided to outline what the star ratings mean
- Five stars- Outstanding
- Four stars- Very good
- Three stars- Good
- Two stars- Disappointing
- One star- Rubbish
- Diagrams are included to give an understanding of how interesting a film is over its duration.
- Recommendation are provided to other particles, that the reader might be interested in. If they enjoyed the article they just read.
- Figures are provided, such as the productions budget and how long it took to produce. This would be an interesting concept to add into my article.
- The feature article in the magazine, spans over 8 pages of the magazine. So this gives me a taster for what is expected of me from this task.
- Some of this feature article is placed over a still images if the movie, providing a nice and effective aesthetic.
